OPINION: Laundering public funds for re-election
The electoral clientelism has taken its fangs out and demonstrates its scope, once again, confirming that the deputies are the key figures of a system eaten away by corruption. In the case of deputy Yanibel Ábrego, lady and mistress of Capira, the Electoral Tribunal must verify that she, like the other caciques and gamonales who dominate the local politics, maintain their electoral activity under the transparency and ceilings of existing donations.
Could it be that disinterested gifts to potential voters are the product of public funds or even unscrupulous sources? The lack of verification and control have opened the door to the feast of campaign events, which shows the abundance of resources that many candidates count upon. In past elections, the key to riches was in the form of community boards, which laundered public funds for the candidates’ purposes.
Today we have a hot electoral climate that the country does not deserve, largely the fault of deputies who know neither law nor order, and who know they are unpunished because the Supreme Court guarantees them – LA PRENSA. Mar.21.
