Extreme UV radiation will affect large parts of Panama throughout the weekend with citizens warned to avoid exposure beyond 6-9 minutes says the Civil Protection System (Sinaproc) In other areas radiation levels will be very high but exposure should be no longer than 13
According to the table of UV radiation indices, from this Saturday, January 12 to Monday, January 14, provinces such as Herrera, Los Santos, Veraguas, Chiriqui and the maritime sector of the Panamanian Pacific will have the most extreme indices of solar radiation.
Panama, West Panama, Coclé, Bocas del Toro, Colon, Darién, Guna Yala, Emberá and Ngäbe Buglé, as well as the maritime sector of the Caribbean, will experience “very high” rates of radiation.
The Sinaproc recommends using sunscreen, a wide-brimmed hat, glasses, avoiding prolonged exposure to the sun and hydrating constantly.
