OPINION: President dallies,incompetence rewarded
Since he took office on July 1, 2014, the President of the Republic, Juan Carlos Varela, had to know that on December 31, 2018, the term of the electoral prosecutor expired. However, the appointment of the replacement of Eduardo Peñaloza was not included in the list of topics to be considered in the agenda of the extraordinary sessions of the National Assembly. It is evident that the deputies, including those of the government benches, did not intend to deliberate on any of the crucial issues that the country needs, but the president had to do his homework. While vacancies accumulate in key positions for the justice of the country, neither the Executive nor the Legislature has acted in a responsible manner. At the dawn of a new electoral process, we will stay, unless a miracle happens, with an electoral prosecutor with little competence and an accomplice of the abuse of public funds for political campaigns. This prosecutor is a true accessory He has left the country helpless and, as a reward, will remain in office as long as we have a president who does not make decisions and a circus as a National Assembly.- LA PRENSA, Dec. 27
