Fugitive businessman for trial in airport scam
PANAMA FUGITIVE businessman Gabriel Btesh, who fled the country in 2015 while facing multiple corruption investigations has been called appear at the preliminary hearing of the trial in which he is accused of embezzlement to the detriment of the Tocumen International Airport (Tocumen, SA) .
It is scheduled for January 15, 2019.
The Anti-Corruption D Prosecutor’s Office requested investigation case, after an audit by the Comptroller General determined that the air terminal ceased to receive $1.9 million as a result of the direct contract granted to the company Sky Parking, SA , linked to the entrepreneur, for the administration of the parking lots at the iairport.
As part of the process, the prosecution also requested that a criminal case be opened against the former Minister of Finance Frank De Lima ; the former manager of Tocumen’s board of directors Juan Carlos Pino ; and José Quintero and Dionisia Gutiérrez , representatives of the company Sky Parking SA , which managed the airport parking lots between October 2011 and July 2014.
