Martinelli flaunts party flag at wiretap hearing
EX-PRESIDENT Ricardo Martinelli continued to use a Supreme Court indictment hearing to flaunt his attempt to be nominated as a National Assembly electoral candidate for the CD party.
On Thursday, September 27 he appeared before Judge of Guarantees Jerónimo Mejía, handcuffed and wearing a cap with his initials and a shirt with the Democratic Change flag, the party he founded to pursue his presidential; ambitions.
He is charged the alleged commission of the crimes of embezzlement and against the inviolability of secrecy and the right to privacy.
Mejía, called the hearing to listen to the replies from Martinelli’s lawyers, to the objections of prosecuting magistrate Harry Díaz to testimonial, documentary and expert evidence announced by the defense.
Sidney Sitton, the lawyer for Martinelli, defended the participation of two computer experts proposed by the defense, to examine the digital evidence that supports the accusations against Martinelli.
The prosecution objected to the expert evidence, considering it irrelevant and impertinent.
“We are requesting clones or mirror copies for the experts, that will allow us to articulate a defense in a consistent manner, “said Sitton, who insists that the accusers did not follow established protocols established for the preservation of tests.
