154 car-owner complaints totaling $2.6 million
The Consumer Protection and Defense of Competition Authority (Acodeco), has received 154 complaints totaling $2.6 million from car owners so far this year.
Breach of guarantees with 95 processes topped the complaints list. Other reasons were veracity of publicity, breach of services, hidden defects, abusive clauses and lack of information
Acodecon administrator Oscar García said on Thursday, September 27 that Law 14 came into force in 2018 t and states that vehicles are covered by a guarantee that if in the in the workshop for 61 days without repairs being completed, the business has the obligation to provide another vehicle of similar characteristics for the owner’s use, until his own is delivered.
Acodeco recommends that consumers find out about technical backups, the responsiveness of companies in their claims and everything included in automobile guarantees and comparing prices and inventories before buying.
