OPINION: Assembly sinners seek PR redemption
The National Assembly seeks to improve its image and strengthen positive appreciation about the negatives that dominates public opinion. This could perhaps be achieved with a radical change in the behavior of its deputies, the publication of their expense forms and the improvement of attention to their work, just to mention some examples. Instead of those things, the Assembly president, Yanibel Ábrego, contracted a company to elaborate a “Strategy and structure of communication and digital monitoring of the National Assembly”. What do communicators and image consultants currently in the Assembly do? This hiring reveals not only a redundancy of functions but especially the lack of common sense. The bad image of the National Assembly is a product of the behavior of its members, who demonstrate every day that they do not care about the concerns and needs of citizens. A good image is based on the reputation and the quality of the product. In case of the Assembly, the attempt to wash its face without changing the behavior of the deputies is badly invested money.
