Jail sentence doubled for American tourist murder and rape
The 12-year jail term imposed on an 18-year-old Panamanian for the murder and rape of a young American woman in Bocas del Toro has been doubled said a Public Ministry (MP) announcement on Friday, September 7.

The prosecutor appealed the original sentence before the Superior Court for Children and Adolescence, taking into account the seriousness of the imputed crimes: homicide, robbery, and rape. and the killer will now spend 24 years in jail.
Panamanian authorities offered a reward of $50,000 for the person providing details leading to the capture of the killer, who was captured in October 2017.
