Accused deputy demands apology

POLITICAL  party hopper  Carlos Tito Afú,  who for now has come to rest in Cambio Democrático (CD),  has given  journalist Olmedo Rodríguez and the newspaper La Prensa “three to four days” to  , “retract” and “apologize ” for having  published on  September 1, that a criminal court referred to the the Supreme Court of a file originated by an electoral process after the  annulment – in 2014 – of its proclamation in circuit 7-1 (Las Tablas), for allegedly campaigning with State resources.

“Gentlemen of the newspaper La Prensa: if you have the ethics to retract and say you  were wrong, I would immediately give the Counsel to the deputy Afú to not present a civil and criminal action against the newspaper La Prensa. But if he does not, we’re going to sue, ” said Afú’s lawyer Sidney Sitton, , who also represents ex-president  Martinelli  in the illegal wiretapping case.

“If La Prensa does what my lawyer says, I will be  quiet,  I do not want to be fighting with anyone,”Afú said  when  he and his lawyer went on  Wednesday, September 5 to  the general secretariat of the Supreme Court, to present a request for absolute nullity of all actions taken by the anti-corruption prosecutor Adecio Mojica.

Mojica asked the fifth criminal judge Enrique Paniza to accumulate the case involving Afú with the file related to the audits of  the communal boards. Paniza was inhibited in from accumulating the two files but decided to send to the plenary of the Court the process related  only to the CD deputy.
