Teachers win infested school clean up
After closing the national highway in Chitre on Monday morning, August 13 schoolteachers from the bat-infestedJohn F. Kennedy General Education Center of La Arena, gained a promise of a school clean up.
Primary level teachers say that the lack of cleanliness has made them sick.
Roberto Sandoval, spokesman for the teachers, said that the Education Ministry (Meduca) has not sought a solution to clean up the classrooms.
“Here teachers and students have allergies and colds from bat droppings,” he said.
He also reported that on the campus food is being lost due to the lack of a cook in the
School of 1,096 students.
The regional director of education, Avelino Delgado, after meeting with teachers, said that a private company will be hired a private company to do the cleaning work. He also committed to the management to appoint a cook.
