Panama cedes Flag Football World Cup crown to US

Two years after winning the Flag Football World Cup, Panama lost the title to the United States on Sunday, August  12 at the Maracana stadium.

In the final. After a good 6-0 start, the Americans went up 7-6 and led the first half with a 20-12 advantage. In the second period, a touchdown put the final score at 27-12.

The Panamanian team reached the final after their group stage defeating the Czech Republic (51-0), Canada (31-20), Brazil (42-12), Japan (38-6) and Guatemala (45-0).

In the quarterfinals, Panama ousted Denmark (52-13) and in the semifinals defeated Mexico (45-13).

In 2016, in its third participation, Panama won the World Cup in Miami,  defeating Austria 35-21.
