Los Santos hantavirus total reaches 61

SIX NEW cases of hantavirus have brought the total in the province of Los Santos to 61, with 41 of them in Tonosi.

Two of the patients (a 72-year-old from Pedasi and a 22-year-old from Tonosí)  have developed the Cardiopulmonary Syndrome and are on assisted ventilation in a hospital intensive care unit.

Among the other new cases are two children under 9 years of age, one from Las Tablas and one from Isla Caña.

Carlos Muñoz, regional coordinator of epidemiology said that these patients with hantavirus fever are coping very well.
