OPINION: Silver spoon treatment for Martinelli blocks court

The hearing of the intermediate phase of the wiretapping case advances intermittently. at funeral pace, while the luxurious team of the legal defense of ex-president Ricardo Martinelli continues doing everything possible to delay, through foolish and useless resources, the action of justice, the defendant continues wrapped in a blanket and invoking a supposed violation of his human rights. At no time have these brilliant lawyers argued his innocence, perhaps because they hope that the case does not reach a trial, or because the Criollo Tres Patines [A Cuban TV comedy series] is so ingenious that it can get away from this situation. What is not mockery nor sarcasm is the absurd amount of time lost by the Supreme Court attending, with a silver spoon the tycoon turned politician. Meanwhile, the country is in distress waiting for the ruling that the full Court will issue – in the hands of five alternate judges – on the competence of this body to continue hearing about the process.  The decision of their substitutes does not exempt the titular magistrates from any responsibility; the country is watching them. hoyporhoy LA PRENSA.
