Mayor Blandon to run for president

PANAMA MAYOR, José Isabel Blandón, has confirmed  that he aims to become the Panameñista Party, presidential candidate in the 2019 election to succeed current Panameñista president, Jaun Carlos Varela.

He made the announcement. which will not come as a surprise to political junkies, on Tuesday, July 3, the day after he presented a record of his achievements while in office.

“To all those who have been asking me, today I want to answer them.  After meditating and consulting many, I have taken my decision. I say it clearly and firmly: #BlandonVa, “the mayor posted on his Twitter account.

In another message, Blandón said that, five years ago, he ran in the elections of the capital city “when it seemed impossible to win. “

“Now I have decided to run for president, knowing that it will be a difficult challenge, ” he added the day after presenting a report on his four years of management of the Mayor’s Office
