Wildcard lawyer files Martinelli habeas corpus
The anticipated flow of attempts to avoid or stall the first trial ex-president Ricardo Martinelli currently occupying a cell in El Renacer prison, began on Wednesday, June 20, hours after the full plenary of the Supreme Court unanimously ruled that he must remain in detention.
In the distribution of files, Judge Abel Zamorano was appointed rapporteur in a writ of habeas corpus in favor of Martinelli, currently detained for the alleged commission of crimes against the inviolability of secrecy and the right to privacy, and against the public administration (embezzlement).
The action was presented by lawyer Jaime Marchosky, who is not is part of Martinelli’s legal team.
Luis Eduardo Camacho, Martinelli spokesman, and lawyer said that the team did not file the appeal.
“I understand that a citizen did it on a personal basis,” he said on his Twitter account
