Gas pump shortchangers get squeezed
Panama’s Consumer Protection Authority (Acodeco) has slapped fines totaling $17,200 on 21 gas station operators who tried to squeeze a little extra profit out of their pumps at the customer’s expense.
It was reported that 73 fuel stations were subjected to analysis by the Acodeco Metrology Department during the months of March and April, to verify that the pumps dispatched the quantity purchased by the consumer and that the price caps displayed were correct.
