Cancer fraud trial rescheduled
The initial hearing into an alleged case of fraud by a woman who received thousands of dollars in donations for medical treatment after falsely claiming she had cancer has been rescheduled,
Milagros Lay, will appear in court on May 10, at 8:00 a.m.
The April 23 trial at the headquarters of the Accusatory Penal System (SPA) in Agora Square was reprogrammed, in order to inform one of the victims, who could not attend. the hearing.
Lay and her brother are charged with alleged fraud, and cannot leave the country and must report weekly to the authorities
On Monday, Lay arrived at the SPA headquarters, accompanied by two people.She initially covered her head to avoid being caught by media cameras and,gave no statements .
The woman posed as a cancer patient, after saying that she had been diagnosed in a private clinic and had received treatment at the National Oncological Institute (ION), which was subsequently denied by managers of the health institution.
