Police Commissioner gunned down in Chiriqui

Panama’s mounting murder rate headed by criminal gangs added another victim on Tuesday, April 3 when a National Police (PN) Commissioner, on vacation was gunned down in the district of Bugaba, La Estrella, Chiriqui.

Samuel Espinoza,55,  was attacked by three assailants, who were trying to steal from his residence. A companion rushed him to the Pablo Espinoza Polyclinic, where he later died.

The authorities are continuing the investigations, in the highlands where the commissioner was vacationing prior to retiring. He lived in  Vacamonte, in the province of Panamá Oeste, reports El Siglo.

The PN director, Omar Pinzón, lamented the death of the commissioner and noted that specialized personnel are carrying out investigations to track down the killers.
