Countdown clock for Panama World Youth Day
THE COUNTDOWN CLOCK to the celebration of the World Youth Day (WYD), in Panama from January 22 to 27, 2019 was initiated in Parque Urraca on Sunday, April 1 by Archbishop José Domingo Ulloa
“The clock will constantly remind us of the commitment we have with the youth of Panama and the world,” said the Archbishop. The last edition of the WYD took place in Krakow (Poland) in 2016. It is a religious event that every three years brings the Pope together with young people from around the world for a week.
It has been promoted by President Juan Carlos Varela as an event that will draw attention to Panama and boost tourism. Multiple cultural programs have been planned to coincide with the religious festival.
The last Pope to visit Panama John Paul II, in 1983.
