New property appraisals not on the cards

THE PRESIDENTIAL Decree 130,  which brought hundreds of protesting tax payers  and scores of SPI (presidential  security personnel)  onto the roads around the home of President Juan Carlos Varela on Saturday  June 10,  will not be introducing  new property appraisals.

The Ministry of Economy and Finance which suspended the introduction of  the decree on Sunday, said  the procedure for updating property information, aims to “bring  order” and “standardize” records in public institutions that have to do with land administration and collection of property tax

Finance Minister Dulcidio De La Guardia said that this administration has repealed the revaluations approved by the previous government and they  will not be resumed.
