Highway death toll hits 176
A 26-YEAR-0LD truck driver, Alizon Peréz, is in serious condition at Santo Tomás hospital after being pried from his vehicle following a collision in a collision between two trucks on the Pan-American highway in Diciembre 24 on Saturday, May 13.
An official source said Alizon, who was driving a dump truck, collided with the back of a Freightliner articulated vehicle.
The impact was so strong that the front of the truck shattered and Alizon was trapped in the wreckage.
Members of the Fire Department and paramedics of Sume 911 removed Alizon.
According to figures from the National Traffic Operations Directorate, 176 fatalities have been recorded in 133 days this year in traffic accidents across the country.
Of these, 50 have been caused by collisions, 59 by speeding , 48 by hitting solid objects,, 14 by rollover, and five by other causes.
