Transit death brings 2017 total to 150
A TAXI DRIVER became Panama’s 150th recorded highway fatality at 9.45 pm, on Tuesday, April 26, when he slammed into a post on the Transistmica highway in Chilibre.
Police reports show that speeding is the major cause of traffic deaths and injuries with alcohol consumption and cell phone use also playing major roles. The current figures put Panama on a path to surpass last year’s grim total of 458 traffic deaths.
