IFF’s Oscar winning Iranian film
THE SALESMAN Winner of the Oscar for best non-English film will be in the sixth edition of IFF Panama. It was the second time that Iranian director Asghar Farhadi got an Oscar in the same category, the first was in 2012 with A Separation.
The Salesman was also included in the section “In competition” at the Cannes Film Festival; in that festival the Shahab Hosseini won best actor and Asghar Farhadi obtained the prize for best script.
After Iranian couple Emad and Rana are forced to move to a new apartment, their life together is thrown into turmoil by an act of violence. They decide not to report the incident, and Rana’s emotional withdrawal becomes more than Emad can bear.
He begins his own investigation and is overcome by an increasing need for revenge.
IFF Panama presents two screenings Saturday, April 1 at 6:45 p.m. in the Copa Airlines room in Cinépolis Multiplaza and Monday, April 3 at 5:30 p.m. in the MasterCard Room – Balboa Theater).
