Government donates millions to Catholic church

BY MARCH this year the government of Juan Carlos Varela has allocated another $8.4 million more to religious matters mostly related  to the Catholic Church.

The amount is in addition to the $16.7 million that it had already donated since taking office.
No budget has been announced for the upcoming Catholic Youth Conference and the visit of Pope Francis in  2019, weeks before the next election.

In a recent homily, Archbishop Jose Domingo Ulloa urged the government not to politicize the event.
