OPINION: Joint Task Force reducing Carnival deaths
Hoyporhoy La Prensa, Mar. 2
MANY Panamanian families have to face the mourning every year from violent traffic accidents that accumulate during Carnival.
What is worse, is that year after year, the number of victims had been increasing, leaving more and more families affected.
However, this year’s statistics reflect an encouraging improvement achieved by the work carried out by the Joint Task Force and the National Police to create awareness in the population about their safety and that of those around them.
It has resulted in a significant reduction in the number of fatalities on Carnival routes.
While it is up to us as citizens to take responsibility and consequences of our actions and to act as required by law, not least is the role played by the hundreds of men and women who seek a safe place
for all. The results show that when working with effective communication and with a true sense of mission, results are obtained that benefit the whole country.
