Noriega brain surgery delayed
THE BRAIN TUMOR operation on former military dictator Manuel Manuel Noriega was slated for Wednesday, Feb.15, the day that flags flew at half mast for one of his outspoken opponents. Ricardo Arias Calderón.
The surgery will be delayed for a few days awaiting further tests, said his lawyer Ezra Angel.
“Once we have the results the date will be announced,” said Angel.
Noriega, turned 83 last weekend the same age as Arias Calderon.
He was granted house arrest Jan. 29 to prepare for the surgery.
Noriega Had been imprisoned in El Renacer Prison on the banks of the Panama Canal, where he is serving three 20-year sentences for murders during his regime.
