Panama aviation rating plunges
PANAMA’S AVIATION rating has plunged since 2005 with failures in procedures and regulations.
The disturbing report comes from the International Civil Aviation Organization, (ICAO) which audited the country in 2015.
On inspection, the Panamanian air system earned a score of 36.4 points. It received a score of 85.7 in 2005.
The agency found failures in procedures and in the regulations that the Civil Aviation Authority has in place to regulate airports and air traffic.
Training deficiencies
It also detected deficiencies in the training of the technical personnel responsible for monitoring traffic in Panamanian air space.
Aviation Director Alfredo Fonseca Mora said that the result of the audit is due to a lack of resources put into the agency by the state.
The result could lead to a review of Panama by US authorities.
