Four rescuers burned as two men die in blazing tanker

TWO MEN died and four others were badly burned in a rescue attempt  when  a loaded gasoline tanker truck  exploded  in Chiriqui Grande, Bocas del Toro, on Saturday night Nov 19.

Firefighters from Bocas del Toro responded to the incident.

The injured were people passing by who tried to help those inside the truck

They were  taken to the David Hospital in Chiriquí where they are being treated for their burns.

The names of those injured are: Amílcar Espinoza, 53, the director of the prison in Changuinola, Dr. Larkin Zapata, Diogenes Bellido, 38, a nursing technician, and José Díaz, 53.

The names of those killed in the accident have not been released They were a 68 year-old man and his son 19.

An investigation into the incident has been opened.
