Ambulances get speeded up border access

Red Cross ambulances and fire engines  of Panama and Costa Rica will have expedited border controls from both countries following  a communication protocol signed by different local institutions.

The initiative will allow emergency responses in the case of accidents or natural disasters that occur in the neighboring areas.

A press release from the Ministry of Economy and Finance, says the agreement covers immigration and customs regulations.

The Red Cross had been excluded from previous international agreements.

The measure will also apply to fire departments.
