725 affected by Chiriqui floods as rain continues

THE NUMBER  of people affected by flooding in  eight communities of Chiriqui  has climbed to 725, with the prospect of more as further bad weather alerts were issued on Saturday. November 19.

The National civil defense service (Sinaproc)  the Red Cross, police and commnity organizations are working round the clock to assist those facing flooding, fallen trees, lost roofs  and landslides. The current green  alert lasts through Monday, November 21.

But stormy weather in the Caribbean  may extend the period of heavy rain and lightning strikes.

The communities most affected are: Majagual, San Bartolo, San Vicente, Barriada El Carmen, Almendro Acueducto, Almendro Asentamiento, Chiriquí Viejo and Orillas del Río.
