Ex-Odebrecht boss strikes jail term deal
MARCELO ODEBRECHT, the former president of Latin America’s biggest construction company Odebrecht, will remain behind bars until December 2017.
He had been facing a 19-year sentence, but it was reduced because he cooperated with prosecutors, Brazilian media report.
He will spend roughly two years in jail. The remainder of the sentence will be served under house arrest.
The executive was charged with corruption and money laundering as part of the Lava Jato investigation into alleged bribes paid to state officials in Brazil and other countries by the company.
