Vehicle plunges into Canal lock
TRANSIT through one of the Gatun locks at the Colon end of the Panama canal was suspended early Saturday, Oct. 15, after a vehicle plunged into the lock.
The driver reportedly fell asleep while it was traveling on the road that connects Costa Arriba with Costa Abajo.
He driver was the only one in the vehicle, and was unharmed, reports the Panama Canal Authority.(ACP)
The ACP said that the operation of the lock was suspended while the vehicle wa being removed.
The other lock remained operational.
The ACP allows vehicles to cross the locks during certain times of the day to complement the ferry service.
