Brazil scandal company bidding for $1 billion bridge contract
THE SCANDAL ridden Brazilian construction company Odebrecht is one of six consortiums that have pre-qualified for building the $1 billion bridge that will carry Metro 3 trains over the Canal .
TheMinistry of Public Works has published the specifications of the Canal’s fourth bridge
Two of the qualifiers are from China, The others are from Korea, Spain and Italy.
The bridge will be 6.5 kilometers long and will include two rail lines for the Panama Metro.
The specifications will be reviewed by the bidders and thebids will be received in January. The contract will be awarded in May.
The project will take four years.
A requirement of the work is that the contractors may not affect the operation of the Panama Canal during construction.
