New water plant to serve 143,000
BIDDING for the construction a of new water treatment plant in Gamboa, that is projected to serve 143,000 users opened on Tuesday, October 4.
The project, is expected to cost $300,000 and expected to take two years to build.
The seven entities bidding on the project were Consorcio Acciona Gamboa, Asociación Accidental Planta Potabilizadora Gamboa, Consorcio Agua para Gamboa, Consorcio Planta Gamboa, Consorcio Acueducto Gamboa, Consorcio Aguas de Panamá Gamboa and Consorcio Aguas del Chagres.
President Juan Carlos Varela said that the plant will have the capacity to produce 60 million gallons of drinking water per day, and that this will improve the distribution system in the city.
The plant will be named for José Pepe Fierro, who served as director of the water and sewer agency Idaan three times.
