Hospital site 30 km from electricity grid

TEN COMPLAINTS about hospital  projects with alleged  “irregularities,” have been filed    with the Public Prosecutor’s Office by the Ministry of Health.

Nine of the date from the Ricardo Martinelli administration. And one from the present government.

According to the documentth Ministry  has requested investigations into apparent anomalies in the construction of Minsa-Capsi facilities in Cuipo, in Colón, Rio Sereno, in Chiriqui, and Carti, in the Comarca Guna Yala.

These health facilities had a cost of between $5 million and $10 million.

In the case of the Minsa-Capsi project in Carti, for example, the facility is located in an area so remote that the nearest connection point to the electrical grid is 30 kilometers from the site.

There are also allegations over anomalies in the purchase of fuel in Guna Yala.

Another of the complaints relates to the contract for emergency airlift services in areas of difficult access for about $7 million.

Minister of Health Miguel Mayo said that the complaints were prepared by the legal department and are not political in nature.

“An audit was made and the law requires the filing of a complaint if there are irregularities,” he said.
