National education dialogue launched
AN ATTEMPT to get to grips with Panama’s educational challenges began on Wednesday September 28 with the opening of the the national dialogue on education at the Francisco Beckman School.
President Juan Carlos Varela said that the dialogue is part of the “action plan” to meeting the government’s goals. He urged the members to participate in an active, critical and constructive way.
The initiative involves representatives of the government, teachers unions, students, parents, academic experts and officials from the private sector.
It is being facilitated by the United Nations Development Program.
The discussions will begin in October and will focus on five areas: quality, equity, investment, teacher training and management.
