40 year olds father schoolgirl babies
SEVEN MEN over 40 and 24 over 30 were fathers of babies born to girls under the age of 15 in 2014 according to the National Institute of Statistics
The report, entitled “Live births of the Republic revealed that, during 2014, a total of 188 girls under 15 years of age became pregnant.
In half the cases, the identity of the father was not known.
The figures quoted only include live births and not abortions.
The Penal Code sets a prison sentence of up to 10 years for having sex with children under 14.
