Four waterless days as rains fall
FOUR DAYS after damage to a treatment plant, Penonomé was still without water as heavy rains continued to fall.
The problem was caused by a large amount of sand that entered the plant due to flooding of the Zarati River on Sunday, September 11.
Workers were unable to fix the problems Monday due to continued flooding of the river caused by heavy rains.
Arturo Rodriguez, regional director of the water and sewer agency (Idaan) , said that the agency is cooperating with the Ministry of Public Works to fix the issue.
Meanwhile, water trucks from the agency have been dispatched to the community.
Authorities hoped to have the plant back to 50 percent of capacity, by Thursday evening.
