7 homes destroyed, 50 flooded

 THE STORM warnings   issued by the National Civil Protection agency, (Sinaproc)  proved accurate on Monday September 5.

Seven homes were destroyed and  50  flooded  in Chiriqui said first reports after heavy rains and strong winds.

SINAPROC staff are assisting affected families in Paso Canoas and San Isidro and have warned that the number could increase.

The deluge caused the overflow of Quebrada Grande in San Isidro and Quebrada Negra, located a few meters from the border of Paso Canoas, also causing flooding on the Trans-America highway, in the sector of Gariché Aserrío in Bugaba.

Drivers were forced  to park on the side of the highway to avoid accidents and damage to vehicles.

Resients report that it has been many years since they have witnessed floods of such magnitude.
