OPINION: A one man judicial show

Hoyporhoy La Prensa, Aug 4

NOT CONTENT with his sad role during the past administration and his questionable repeated trips abroad, the president of the Supreme Court now admits openly and unashamedly, his defiance of the Judicial Career Law.

It’s not like a judge of the highest court to   act with indifference to our legal system. Under the pretext of lack of resources, Jose Ayu Prado decided to appoint judges and other officials to administer the accusatory system, which is to enter into force in the last judicial district of the country without complying with the rigors required by the standard  set for selecting the staff.

These actions do a disservice to the already tarnished image of our justice system. It is vital that funding for resources, infrastructure and education are used as  intended and thus achieve an effective implementation of this new scheme.

What is the senior judge betting on? Panama has high hopes hopes that finally justice will work by the accusatory system. We should not tolerate this is unacceptable challenge.
