The event was supported  by some 50 Cannuck residents and visitors and well wishers from Panama  and other countries.

A highlight of the evening  was  a coffee tasting session  in which many got their first experience of the renowned geisha coffee which can sell at over $700 a pound, and contributes to Panama’s reputation of producing some of the world’s finest coffee. The audience discovered that while Panama cannot compete in volume with countries like Brazil, Colombia and Vietnam its reputation for quality is unchallenged, and brings the world’s top experts to the country  every year to extended tasting sessions of the latest crop of beans

The introduction to the secrets of coffee was given by Frank Tedman whose Canadian grandfather started growing coffee in Boquete after working as a dredger captain during the French canal building attempt. The third generation Frank heads Palo Alto which is now sold in Canada.

The audience appreciation of the presentation was reflected in the lengthy question and answer session that followed.
