Senior officials killed in 3 death crash
TWO SENIOR GOVERNMENT officials were among the three dead and two injured following a collision on the the highway between Arraijan and La Chorrera on Sunday July 3.
Ministry of Security Secretary General Emilio Royo and Ministry of the Presidency security official Jordi Velasquez died
The vehicle that both officers were traveling towards Panama in was hit by another car that was headed to the interior of the country. It was driven by Pedro Ernesto Villarreal, who also died.
Karina Ibuza, Luzmila González and Omar Álvarez, who work for the Institutional Protection Service (SPI) were injured.
The government officials were headed to Panama City after attending an event in La Chorrera organized by Panama City Mayor José Blandón.
President Juan Carlos Varela went to Nicolás. A. Solano Hospital in La Chorrera to check on the condition of the officers.
Varela and Blandón cancelled activities they had planned for Monday.
