Princess Cruises to use new locks
“PRINCESS CRUISES” will be the first major cruise line in the world in scheduling transits through the new Panama Canal locks inaugurated on June 26.
The company this week said the “Caribbean Princess” carrying 3,080 passengers for partial transits of the canal would operate using the new Atlantic locks at its entrance from the end of 2017. The experience will be part of 10-day cruises through the Canal from Fort Lauderdale, Florida, scheduled during the winter of 2017-18.
Three other Princess ships, the Coral Princess, the Island Princess and Pacific Princess will transits the Panama Canal for the winter of 2017-18 using the original Panama Canal locks, Princess Cruises is a cruise line based in Santa Clarita, California, in the United States and incorporated in Bermuda.
Previously a subsidiary of P & O Princess Cruises, the company is now one of the ten cruise brands owned by the largest cruise operator in the world, American / British “Carnival Corporation” and represents approximately 19% of company revenues mother.
It is part of Holland America Group, which controls the three brands of Carnival based operations on the West Coast of the United States.
The company became famous for the popular television series “The Love Boat” with the “Pacific Princess”
In May 2013, the new “Royal Princess” became the flagship of Princess Cruises.
