Metro gets new cars as passenger demand climbs
WITH METRO line 1 averaging 270,000 passengers a day 70 new cars have been purchased due to the high demand for service. This will expand the trains to 5 cars.
The current line runs for 18 hours a day, 365 days a year.
The information was presented on Wednesday, June 29 by Metro Secretary Roberto Roy, along as part of his report on his management over the past two years.
As part of the presentation, he noted that 99 percent of the Metro workers are Panamanian.
He emphasized that the high percentage has been achieved through training programs.
Meanwhile he reported that work has started on six stations of Metro line 2 of the Metro, located in Hospital del Este, Las Mananitas, Pedregal, San Antonio, Tocumen Airport and Cincuentenario.
