Ex vice-president facing new criminal case
FORMER vice president Felipe”Pipo” Virzi will face The Fifteenth Circuit Criminal Prosecutor later this month for investigation of alleged forgery in a land deal in the province of Veraguas while he was already under house arrest on another charge.
The latest. Investigation relates to a complaint filed December 23 by the firm Alvarez & Vega y Asociados, against Virzi, who is accused of having transferred land fraudulently to his daughter Elvira Maria Virzi.
The land at issue was occupied by Maria Torres Enelda for 30 years. She was taking steps to legalize her tenure, but Virzi transferred the property, even though at that time he was under house arrest.
A source close to the investigation confirmed that diligence is scheduled for June 28 and 29
Virzi currently cannot leave the country because of other processes against him including fraudulent transactions in the failed Tonosi irrigation project in which a group of Ricardo’’s Martinelli’s inner circle received millions of dollars in payouts. Some of those involved have fled the country and others are awaiting trial.
