Judge rejects move to halt Interpol alert
A MOTION to annul an Interpol alert for the arrest of the former high flying Adolfo Chichi De Obarrio, ex-private secretary of former President Ricardo Martinelli, has been thrown out.
The case relates to a contract for the purchase dehydrated food, through the former National Assistance Program (PAN) in which De Obarrio allegedly played the role of messenger boy between Martinelli and the Director of the National Assistance Program,( PAN)
The fifteenth Criminal Court Judge Leslie Loaiza, in a June 2 judgment concluded that the notification made to De Obarrio by the Second Anti-Corruption Prosecutor, by an was according to law.
“The procedural effort by the judge to achieve the appearance of the accused issuing an edict, is lawful under which all know that de Obbarrio has evaded has a duty to appear and face the charges against him He left the country in December last year not and his whereabouts have not yet been determined ” said the judge in rejecting the defense application.as the whereabouts of the former official are unknown, “he had to seek the arrest at a national and international level through Interpol”.
