Air traffic controllers demand pay scale
PANAMA’S air traffic controllers, have become the latest group calling for dialogue with the Varela administration.
They gathered near the Tocumen International Airport on Friday afternoon, June 10, to demand higher pay.
The group, which insists on a dialogue with the Government, demands the creation of a law to regulate their profession, so there is a pay scale, where they have income according to the work they do.
“There is a problem and we have no salary scale, this is what causes us to be at the mercy of the manager on duty. There is a great disparity in wages, “said Ruben Rios, a leader of the demonstrators.
Currently there are about 170 controllers working at Panama’s airports.
