Edward remains in Diamond League contention
ALONSO EDWARD, Panama’s Olympic medal hope came in third in the Diamond League Athletics 200 meters Thursday in Rome, on Thursday June 2. But remains tied for top place in the standings.
Edward, twice 200 meters champion in the league is tied with Webb at the top of the current standings,, recorded 20.25 seconds.
American Ameer Webb, won with 20.04, and Canadian Aaron Brown, was second with 20.24 seconds.
In the overall standings Edward and Webb share first place with 20 points, while Brown is six points behind.
Rome was the fifth stop of the Diamond League 2016 season, but the third for the f 200 meters.
The Isthmian sprinter has achieved three podium places this season’s competition: Doha (Qatar) in second place with a time of 20.06 (his best finish of the year)
In Rabat (Morocco), Edward won with a time of 20.07, a record for that track; and Thursday is third with 20.25 seconds.
