Fired deputy security minister on the hot seat
A REPORT on a bizarre incident in the office of the former deputy minister of Security Rogelio Donadío, has been forwarded to Attorney General Kenia Porcell by Administration Prosecutor Rigoberto González.
On Oct. 29, Public Security payroll officer Carlos López was called to Donadio’s office, where he found the vice minister dressed in a uniform of the border patrol agency Senafront
According to the report, López said Donadio, handcuffed him in his office and forced him to sign documents.
López outlined what had happened in a three-page letter to the minister, Rodolofo Aguilera on November 9.
In that letter, he said Donadio had requested the presence of his bodyguard, Captain Aristides Gobea, who ordered López to place his hands behind his back, at which time he was handcuffed. He said he was in the handcuffs for 10 to 15 minutes.
He said a number of other individuals were present, including ministry attorney Aquiles Medina, secretary Emilia Villamil and ministry Secretary General Álvaro Varela.
Lopez said that Donadio told him that he had only handcuffed him as a warning. He also said that ministry Human Resources Director Juan Chavarría ordered the interview to stop. López said he was then told he could be removed from office.
Donadio has since been removed from office, along with the former Minister and could face criminal charges over the incident.
