Panama Olympic medal hope wins gold in Germany
PANAMAS Sprinter Alonso Edward got his second 200 meters win of the year at the Adidas Boost Athletics Meeting in Germany with a time of 20.73 seconds on Friday, May 13.
Edward, who has already qualified for the Olympic Games in Rio 2016, had no trouble with two rivals in the final. The Panamanian who ran in lane 6, took the lead of the race from the start.
After the race, Edward used his social networks to announce his victory. “Thank God another victory in Germany, next stop Morocco”.
The 26 year-old still is warming up for the Rio Olympics, August 5- to 21.
in the first race of the Diamond League in Doha, Qatar, he took second place with a time of 20.06, Before Doha, he competed in Florida, USA, where he ran 20.11.
The Isthmian sprinter qualified for Rio in , May 15, 2015 afterr winning the 200-meter dash with a time of 20.33 seconds in Shanghai, China, duping the Diamond League athletics season.
He will be the standard bearer of the Panamanian team at the Olympics.
His best time is 19.81 seconds, in a competition held in Germany in August 2009.
He has run four times below 20 seconds.
